Ecomapuá Amazon REDD Project

The Ecomapuá Amazon REDD project’s primary goal is contributing to the reduction of deforestation, while also developing alternative sources of income for local communities and the sustainable development of the region.

The Ecomapuá project conserves about 90,000 hectares of the Amazon biome in the interior of Marajó Island – one of the regions of greatest social vulnerabilities, and with a very low Human Development Index in Brazil. Every year, the project helps reduce 72,338 metric tonnes of CO2e accompanied by other co-benefits. More details can be seen via our project page.
